Bio

Jan Olof Nygren (born 1979 in Västerås, Sweden) is a designer, artist and maker, currently based in Brooklyn, NY. His work, which is located at the intersection of art and design, often has a starting point in illustration, with a focus on letterforms, narrative and language.

Nygren's work as a graphic designer includes logos, typefaces and repeat patterns for clients, while his self-initiated projects range from posters, to sculptures and installation pieces.

His work has been published in the book Stereographics, by Viction:ary, The 3D Type Book by Laurence King, and in the magazines Novum and Creatie, in Germany and the Netherlands respectively.

He received a bachelor of fine arts degree in design, from HDK – School of Design and Crafts, in Gothenburg, Sweden, and a master of fine arts degree, from Cranbrook Academy of Art, in Michigan, USA.
